Three-day charcoal chicken, indulgent breakfasts, sticky toffee pudding and a garden playground that gives parents time to enjoy it—Miya Social’s refreshed menu has plenty for the whole family.

Miya Social’s refreshed menu brings more fire, flavour and all-day temptation to the table.

Some Bali venues are made for a quick meal. Miya Social has always felt more like the place where breakfast accidentally becomes lunch—and before you know it, someone is suggesting cocktails.

With its relaxed social atmosphere and Melbourne-inspired take on all-day dining, Miya Social has built a loyal following among guests who come for the food but tend to stay for the feeling of the place.

Now, the Legian favourite is turning up the heat with a refreshed menu featuring bigger flavours, comforting new dishes and a serious focus on cooking over fire.

And yes, there is charcoal chicken. But this is definitely not your average Tuesday-night takeaway chook.

The garden playground changes everything

Before we get back to the food, Miya Social’s garden playground deserves a proper mention—because for Bali families, it is a huge part of the appeal.

The playground sits directly beside the dining area, giving children room to play and burn off some energy while parents settle in nearby with coffee, breakfast or a long lunch.

As the photograph below shows, this is not a playground tucked away in another part of the venue. Parents can remain close to the children while still enjoying the leafy dining area. That is a serious Bali win.

It means Miya Social isn’t simply somewhere children are welcome. It is somewhere the entire family can genuinely relax. Come for the pancakes and charcoal chicken; stay because nobody is asking to leave after 20 minutes.

Three days in the making

The star of the new menu is the Miya Charcoal Grilled Chicken, prepared over three days before it reaches the table.

According to Miya Social, the process begins with brining the chicken to keep it moist and tender. It is then marinated for a full day in house-made fermented chilli sauces, allowing the flavour to slowly develop rather than simply delivering one enormous hit of heat.

The chicken is finally cooked slowly over charcoal for up to an hour, creating smoky, lightly charred skin while keeping the meat tender and juicy inside.

It can be ordered as a half or whole chicken and is designed to land in the middle of the table for everyone to share—although we will understand if sharing suddenly becomes negotiable.

Guests can build out the meal with butter rice, grilled sweet corn, coleslaw, garlic bread, chips, mashed potato or a classic Caesar salad.

There is also a selection of house-made sauces ranging from mild to spicy, including the boldly named Boom Shakalaka, plus fresh Balinese sambal matah for a bright, fragrant local kick.

Only a limited number of charcoal chickens are prepared each day. Translation: arrive early if you have your heart set on it.

Breakfast just became more dangerous

The changes extend well beyond the charcoal grill, with new dishes appearing across Miya Social’s breakfast, lunch and dinner menus.

Mornings can now begin with salted maple and brown butter pancakes, which sound unapologetically indulgent in the very best way.

New savoury options include corn fritters, smoked salmon rosti, chilli scrambled eggs and a bacon and egg roll for those mornings when only something comforting, salty and uncomplicated will do.

It keeps the easy all-day café spirit Miya Social is known for, while giving regulars a few very compelling reasons to rethink their usual order.

Comfort food takes over later in the day

As breakfast gives way to lunch and dinner, the new additions become heartier.

The chicken schnitzel and beef ragu rigatoni bring proper comfort-food energy, while the chicken katsu sando offers a more casual option for a quick lunch—or a not-so-quick lunch that somehow involves another drink.

The dishes sit alongside Miya Social’s existing favourites rather than completely reinventing the venue. It still feels familiar; there is simply more to choose from and considerably more temptation involved.

Then there is the sticky toffee pudding

Served warm with vanilla gelato, it is rich, comforting and precisely the kind of dessert that causes everyone who “didn’t want anything” to suddenly appear with a spoon.

After charcoal chicken and a table full of sides, ordering dessert may seem ambitious. We believe in you.

One venue. Several very good reasons to stay.

Miya Social continues to serve breakfast from 7am to 11am, followed by its lunch and dinner menu from 11am to 10pm.

You can stop by for breakfast, meet friends for lunch, share charcoal chicken at dinner—or begin with coffee and see where the day takes you.

For parents, the playground makes that flexibility even more useful. The children can play while the adults enjoy the food, the garden setting and, with any luck, an entire coffee while it is still hot.

The charcoal chicken is the headliner—but the playground may seal the deal for families.

Miya Social’s refreshed menu doesn’t try to change everything people already enjoy about the venue. It simply turns up the flavour. For families, the combination of an all-day menu, leafy dining area and children’s playground located right beside the tables makes it especially appealing. Come hungry, let the kids play and perhaps establish your position on the final piece of garlic bread before it reaches the table.
