Described as a natural alternative to Botox, Su-Man will be in-house at the W BALI’s renowned spa retreat from Saturday 14 June until Tuesday 24 June offering her legendary ‘five star’ signature facials to hotel guests and in-the-know locals.
Su-Man has built an esteemed reputation over the past ten years as an international leader in skincare, carefully re-crafting the art of the luxurious facial.
She is the woman behind countless A-Listers’ seemingly ageless beauty, including Juliette Binoche, Frienda Pinto and Anne Hathaway, who has described her body treatment with Su-man as “a life-changing experience”.
Su-Man’s signature facial, inspired by the principles of Shiatsu and Pilates, begins with an intensive skin analysis so she can tailor the facial to each clients’ specific needs.
The skin is deeply cleansed with steaming, before Su-Man extracts impurities, exfoliates, tones and moisturisers the face with her carefully designed massaging techniques and her own specially created skincare products.
Originally from a farming family in Taiwan, Su-Man’s understanding of nature and beauty was passed down from generation to generation. This knowledge, combined with traditional Taiwaness skincare methods, has allowed her to elevate facialism into an art form.
Throughout a signature facial, each massage stroke is repeated 36 times in accordance to the ancient Chinese belief that the number six is lucky and helps lead the individual to the perfect state of health and happiness. Su-Man’s aim is to rebalance the energy and moisture in the skin, and to reinvigorate all of the muscles in the face and surrounding areas, resulting is healthy, lifted and luminous skin.
Su-Man is adamant that while life changes your skin, she can change the skin for life. “Skincare should be a ritual and not a chore. Have a love affair with your skin and you will transform it beyond recognition,” says Su-Man.
Su-Man’s signature facial will be available at the AWAY Spa® each day throughout her residency (excluding Sunday, 22 June 2014). Appointments are limited to five each day and advanced reservations are necessary. The AWAY Spa® is a glamorous hideaway, where hotels guests and visitors can escape 24 hours, 7 days a week.
