Probably the least excited staff of any resort to greet me since my stay in Bali but considering the price of approx. $60 per night and the location on the beach in Legian I won’t take it too personally.
I may not have found any luxury here but I did find it quite peaceful, relaxing poolside on the deckchairs sporadically placed on the lawn. Yes, i said lawn as it gave me the feeling I could have actually been in my backyard, just with a few massage ladies thrown in. Come to think of it…that would be quite handy to have atleast one of them at home.
If you are after a swim-up bar I can only relate it to a song of our late Slim Dusty, ‘The Pub With No Beer’. What may have once been a perfect place to sit in the pool with a Bintang or Cocktail now remains empty.
I am not sure why the bar is unfortunately not in use and I would have asked the lady behind the bar that was (in the middle of my backyard) but I wanted to avoid another 90 minute conversation I had the evening prior about how she can’t afford to send her son to university and needs money. Sigh…If only she realised it is not that easy for me either.
Now the breakfast which is included is well…breakfast and the food in general is not to bad for it’s buck but if you are looking for a cafe with Wifi for your laptop this is most definitely not the place. It will drive you friggin’ crazy!!!
The rooms are standard with four poster beds and bathrooms which I am sure in its former life would have looked very modern. I stayed in a Garden Villa for that little bit of extra privacy but if you don’t spend much time in your room it really won’t bother you.
All in all for the location, price and quietness (probably because guests don’t hang out here) who knows…and with some friendlier staff…I could maybe…if I am running low on cash…find myself there again.
Oh and I did love the front gate!
