With the sounds of Frogs & Geckos…it is difficult to imagine I am a two minute walk from the beach and the busy area of Seminyak here but I am.
No need for me to walk anywhere either as I have a driver to take me anywhere I need. Although, since I have been here I have hardly left my Villa. I am just way too relaxed as it has such a homely feel to it. I could really get used to this!
With my own private entrance I walk into the courtyard with my own pool and deck chairs set amongst a beautiful tropical garden leading into the outdoor living area. My thoughts – “Pinch me now!”
With 2 bedrooms off to the side, I try to get in first to ‘Bags’ the best room as I have my friend Olivia sharing part of this experience with me. I soon worked out though that there was no need as both rooms are identical with gorgeous four poster beds and an outdoor tropical oasis as a bathroom.
Let me just say…There is nothing that Mayaloka has not thought of here!
I have noticed it is all about personal service here and when I asked about a cooking class they were happy to provide a private one with their Chef. It was a simple one but I did learn how to make my favourite dish of Nasi Goreng, Indonesia’s most popular food.I think they thought that I had never cooked before as a couple of flips with the pan ended in half my food landing on the floor of the kitchen. The staff, including the General Manager of Mayaloka did get a laugh out of it at least. Haha!
My whole experience of Mayaloka has been a quiet apart from being woken at 4am to the biggest crack of thunder I have ever heard in my life. I am not usually scared of a good storm but this one had me barricading myself with all the pillows I could find! It is on the cusp of wet season here in tropical Bali so hope I don’t get the chance to experience that again!
“How on earth do people live in tin sheds in this country?” I asked myself.
I feel so recharged from the 2 nights of quiet relaxation here. I have been a little hectic since I landed in Bali so this was the perfect place to unwind.
It may feel like you are far away from things but with a short walk or a lift by your driver you will find the beach, yoga and some great restaurants.
Some Places I recommend you check out –
Bali Biku (a High Tea for the girls)
Potato Head (made of recycled shutters)
Amo Spa (get yourself pampered)
W Resort (a must see)
…and so so so much more!
But if you like to people watch then I suggest you should pop into an interesting bar that Olivia and I somehow ended up. At the Zappa Bar you can watch people of all ages get up and sing with the band. It is not all Karaoke as it does look like a set-up to me. Karaoke singers can’t be that good. Can they?
With all of these things surrounding you it is nice to know that the quiet haven of Mayaloka exists only a short stroll away.
