Bali’s New Airport is Almost Complete

Bali’s new airport which is expected to be completed by end of June 2013 is praised to be the best airport in Indonesia. The airport will have the most modern facilities that can even beat the current Indonesia’s biggest airport Soekarno-Hatta.

Bali is one of the most popular travel destination not only to Indonesians but also to tourists from all over the world. Australian tourists still dominates visit to Bali which amounts to about 26.65 per cent followed by China of 8.83 percent, Malaysia 7.83 percent, Japan 6.61 percent and South Korea 4.57 percent. In 2012 alone it was recorded more than 2.8 million foreign tourists visited Bali and this year the Bali local government is targeting an increase of 10-12 percent.

The Ngurah Rai, Bali’s new airport development is not only to anticipate the growing number of tourists coming toBali – it is also prepared for the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit which will be held in Bali in October this year.

According to Indonesia Minister for Transportation, E.E Mangindaan,  United Kingdom, Japan and South Korea are the three major foreign investors to fund the development of the new Airport. Indian-based Company, GVK Power & Infrastructure Limited, which was supposed to participate in the development, chose to invest in funding another new Indonesia airport in Yogyakarta instead.

The government ensure that the development of Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali, will be completed by June 2013. The airport will have the most sophisticated airport systems and equipments in Indonesia, beating the current Cengkareng airport, Soekarno Hatta.

“The airport security systems, baggage check-in and equipments, will be best in Indonesia,” Dahlan Iskan, State Minister for State Owned Enterprises said during his latest visit to Bali.

In addition, the new airport is also targeted to accommodate 25 million passengers per year, almost double the capacity the current airport which can only accommodate up to 13 million passengers per year.
With the new airport, travellers coming to Bali will soon can expect a more comfortable experiences arriving in Bali.
