From Croissants to Medan Quiche: fas.a.fas Brings French Flair to Ubud

Ubud, Bali – Nestled amidst the lush greenery and tranquil vibes of Ubud, fas.a.fas is a delightful French Bakery and Bistro that seamlessly blends rustic charm with a touch of elegance. Concepted by the passionate Pradhivi Moningka, and helmed by the bakery maestro Chef Sutedjo, fas.a.fas offers an inviting sanctuary where the artistry of French baking meets the wholesome goodness of local ingredients.

At fas.a.fas, the mission is simple yet profound: “To bring together the best of French Bakery & curated Western-Indonesian fusion menu and to provide an exquisite dining experience with a nature vibe in Bali for our customers.” This ethos is reflected in every corner of the bakery and bistro, creating a space that feels both stylish and homey.

fas.a.fas brings people together in ways both big and small. From casual meetups to milestone events, every moment here is a chance to create something special. True to its name, “fas.a.fas,” which means “face to face”, the bakery encourages personal connections over shared experiences.

With a Medan Quiche, the bakery has a trailblazer—a dish that harmoniously merges the precision of French cuisine with the boldness of Indonesian spices.

While French authentic offerings are available daily, our signature creations take center stage on select days, with a different promotion featured every day to keep the experience fresh and exciting.

The cafe menu at fas.a.fas is equally impressive, offering breakfast, brunch, and lunch with an international fusion twist. Imagine dishes that fuse flavors and flair from around the globe, all within a laid-back setting that’s inspired by the great outdoors.

A Tribute to Colonial Heritage in Design

The architecture of fas.a.fas is deeply inspired by the rich colonial heritage of the Dutch East Indies and French Colonial styles, with a particular nod to the iconic Maimun Palace in Medan. Built in the 19th century by the Deli Sultanate, Maimun Palace stands as a testament to the unique blend of colonial architecture that has become a symbol of Medan’s history.

At fas.a.fas, the grandeur of this historical design is reflected in every detail, from the towering high ceilings to the intricate colonial ornaments that echo the elegance of Maimun Palace. From the entranceway’s dignified pillars to the architectural subtle nuances, every facet of the facade whispers refined and cultured elegance, breathing new life into time-honored colonial roots.

These four pillars are not just architectural elements but symbolic foundations of fas.a.fas, representing the core values that define the bakery’s mission: Authenticity, Tastefulness, Coziness and Commitment. Together, these pillars uphold fas.a.fas as Ubud’s first colonial-style bakery, offering a unique blend of tradition, taste, and comfort since its opening this year.

fas.a.fas co-founder Pradhivi is a communications practitioner, with years of experience and an infectious enthusiasm in culinary business.
